Well...... If you hadn't said that you ran other motors on the same chassis with the same carb, then that would have been my thought too. Did you attach the switch to the other motors, too? If not... I think you may be onto something.

The easy test is try running it without the switch connected.

When you swapped the carbs, what did you retain, e.g. the inlet plastic fittings and the gaskets? Could the problems be that you used (for example) different gaskets between the two engines?

Has it been on a dyno since this problem started?
