I bought a non-Rotax replacement starter from a scooter shop on Ebay for about Ł30. It arrived quickly and I've had no problem with it. I have no idea about the warranty as I've not needed it. It's fitted to a Swissauto 250 engine so I don't need to stick to original Rotax parts. I did strip it down and silicone the wires where they attach to the brushes because somebody on here advised they were prone to vibration and snapping off
