I've never been happy with the use of K nuts on the dubious quality hub studs that are often Chinese made and very poor quality.

The stud seems to be made from whatever was thrown into the melting pot and can vary in hardness throughout the stud.

There are also dubious K nuts being sold that are too tight and damage the stud and results in over tightening to get the nut to seat on the wheel.

I've seen nuts jammed on studs so tightly that the only way to remove them it to cut them.

I'm not alone in using old K nuts that have little or no locking resistance and have never had a problem with a loose wheel but I've seen many wheels ruined when the holes have been elongated due to nuts that have failed to seat due to being torque on with an impact gun that was too weak to drive the nut fully down.

If you insist on using new K nuts then I presume you need to replace the studs regularly as they would probably do in the aeronautical industry.

They do a K nut with a captive washer too.
