Yep, you need to change the cover....but you might have to break the seal to do so.

I'm pretty sure you'll need a different connection for the bottom too. They just screw in (but the current one may take some effort to remove) and I've used a ptfe liquid thread sealant in the past for this.

And then there are new rubber hoses, the new mounting rod....

Why do you want to change to the later rad? The black rad is fine and you can control the temperature with strips of gaffa tape.
