The lightning is not a front endy kart. It tends to have not enough front and too much rear if anything.Minimum of 15mm on the front or 20 this time of year, otherwise the front can push on (which is probably what he has got used to in liking with you saying he does not like much front.) Keep the rear end chassis height low.
Camber/castor is always a last resort but you can run full castor/camber on a lightning to assist in jacking the rear, but a lot of drivers don't like the feel.
