I presume this engine has the new electrics with the blue coil?

A good habit to get into is to try and start the engine once you come in, that will tell you if the starter motor will be ok the next time you go out.

The X30 has suffered with starter problems and require modifying to prevent further trouble.

It's harder to troubleshoot without a meter but if you get the battery, disconnect the starter positive lead, hold the negative terminal of the battery on the engine and touch the starter lead to the positve of the battery, it should turn over. It will spark so be prepared.

If it doesn't, the starter brush has probably broken.
