Some really good points coming out here.

I think we are all agreed, no one wants to split the grid and that was never the intention.

Admittedly there are some very quick older drivers out there who can more than hold there own with younger drivers and those guys are winning prizes.

As an aside, I bet race instructor would love to be fired because he beat his boss in a good clean final. LOL.

But this proposal at Clay came from a group of 177 club racers who felt that they were never going to stand a chance of ever winning a prize and whilst they enjoy racing, they were maybe a little demoralised.

They also felt that they raced a little bit more cautiously, after all when you are young, being supported by dad, you dont have the same worries about earning the money for the mortgage, or getting injured and not being able to work for a few weeks. They tend not to take quite the same level of risk to overtake someone as a younger driver will.

I know some people will not agree with creating an extra class within a class just to give someone a prize, but if something like this keeps those people racing, and the club agrees, then it gets my vote.

So what about letting a senior max driver like Richy bring his kart up to the 177 weight and race in the 177 masters. He's not eligible for 177 prizes because he is underweight (not 85kgs) but meets the 177 total weight limit for the class.

More entrants in the 177 class to cover the cost of extra prizes, so hopefully no extra expense for the club( Still a jock at heart, counting the pennies).

What about how the masters points are awarded,

1 point for fastest lap in each heat. 2 points for fastest lap in final. A total of five points available.

Points for the number of places gained in each heat and final. if you lose places, you do not lose points.

Masters points would be (Class points from club championship) + (Points for fastest laps) + (Points for number of places gained).

Anyone see any pitfalls with this format.
