Adjusting the air screw will not make a mssive change across the range but you do need to fine tune the position to obtain the best throttle response off load, start as John says at about 2 turns out and test on stand. (yes I know this is against MSA regs) but do it at home or somewhere you are not likely to annoy anyone with noise. i.e. not in the paddock at a race circuit where local or the MSA rules forbid it.
