The fact that the seat tubes are now mis-aligned is probably why it broke. The seat was too wide and instead of adjusting the gap between the seat tubes first, was simply forced in between them, causing stress. Chassis only need re-jigging by the manufacturer if the level of twist is more than can be adjusted out on the kingpins, or if the chassis has lozenged more than a few mm.
