As he chain gets older the links ware at different rates. This leads to the chain having tight spots when rotating the axle. A chains do it however careful you are. A tight spot does not mean your axle is bent, but could do.
Correct alignment and plenty of lube. I use the best laser around, my eye. Cheap and quick, especially when you have sprocket/chain protectors fitted. Never failed me in 13 years of karting.
Before fitting a chain run it over your fingers between finger and tumb. This will show up stiff links and a sharp edge could be a broken link. Takes seconds, saves hours and money.
