The type of sidepod and mount you use on your kart can help significantly.
If you have a tonykart or other OTK chassis or even an Intrepid Storm you will find that the CIK14 spec bodywork offers much more space between the rad & pod than on the older CIK8 & CIK11 Unico designs which almost touched the rad before being hit!
CRG & Marranello chassis use a design that also offers extra space so take a look around the paddock and you will yee the ones you like best and use those.
it is also worth saying that the standard Rotax rad mount offers reasonable flexability which reduces the potential damage in many cases where a more solidly mounted rad would almost certainly be damaged.
