Simon, you say that you were sliding on the new slicks. Did you try your old ones again to see if grip was restored? if you did then it could be one of 2 things 1, the 'new' slicks are unfortunately from one of th poor batches that are known to currently play havoc with many Club and National meetings at the moment or 2, it may be the circuit itself as I know at least one UK circuit on which new tyres are always slower than old rubber!!! I say one of 2 things , there are of course other factors than can cause this problem but I would go with one of those two first assuming of course you rememberd to pressure them corrctly!!
