Overtaking is a different ballgame altogether. Watch the really good guys (you may be one, I don't know) and you'll see how from the moment they start the move to the moment they finish it, the guy they're passing is always left with the least options. He can't turn in when he wants, can't apex where he wants (if at all), can't get on the power when he wants, can't come off the corner where he wants. It's very controlled. The guys that can't pass barrel up the inside, pull it off half the time and trip over themselves or the other kart the other half.

Anyway, the first hairpin at Rye House is the place to learn to brake. The end of the straight at Kimbolton is good but far more difficult because it's not a full stop making it very easy to arrive too quickly or too slowly, there's the bump just before/after the braking point and getting the kart setup into the high speed corner is tricky (sums up Kimbolton really).
