The Apex engine was, if I recall correctly, made by Bob(?) Hall. They manufactured the 100 or so engines required for CIK homologation but, owing to a vibration problem at 16,000rpm that stopped the engine pulling through to the 20,000rpm or so required to be competitive, they didn't continue developing the engine. In hindsight, not a bad decision, considering the 100cc engines only last 5 or so years after that.

I think he still has all the engines sat in a barn.
