Getting your head down only works from experience at Long Circuit in 125's without bodywork, when combined with tucking limbs in. That said, it can have a psychological boost to the driver when following someone at short circuit.

My advice, leave everything where it is and if there indeed is 1mph to be had by doing it (bear in mind he could've just had a better exit from the corner before) then keep doing it! Every little helps
