I first found out that karts existed at the 1966 Hertfordshire County Day, where Zips had a grass track and some hire karts (they also had a "proper" class 1 kart there that I still remember watching John Black have a go in). Fast forward a couple of years, and I saw a copy of Karting Mag in W.H.Smith, so bought my first issue - early june 1968 - and saw a 4 Counties Kart club meeting advertised at Rye House, managed to badger my father into taking me.....couldn't believe how quick and noisy they were!! Hooked!!!
