The length of axle on a Zip with standard hubs is not going to make the slightest bit of difference as they don't overhang the axle.

On a modern kart with 50mm axle where the hubs do overhang, the length of axle alters the stiffness of the interface between hub and axle. For instance, running a 1000mm axle, versus 1040mm axle, with the same track width, is 20mm less axle inside the hub. Quite significant when you think they don't have a lot in there in the first place.
