Rather than orings use dowty (think that's how you spell it) washers - a washer with an internal lipped seal designed to seal in thousands of PSI. Buy them off ebay in a batch. Karting shops sell them for much more each. You can then nip up the screw to a reasonable amount without stripping the thread and without squashing the o ring out from under the side of the screw head. If you need a little extra seal use non setting bytyl sealant, cheap per tube, a little messy but works and if you need to strip it can be cleaned off with white sprits and the bytyl sealant is compatible with the rubber seals.
