Ian, you ask:
“Would your comment mean that IF ANY manufacturer built an engine which lasted for 1,000 years without ANY servicing that you could NEVER drive it until the first ONE HAD been serviced after 1,000 years???????”

Now given that no engine manufacturer does then this is NOT a real question is it?
Any manufacturer making such an engine at a reasonable cost could expect everybody would buy one, now if this is the case with the XR50 then why not just say that? Because you cannot, all engines and their internal parts have a recommended service life and when raced that service life comes down.

To race a MAX at any club in the country one rebuild per season is a reasonable expectation, that rebuild may cost around £200 - £300.

The simple question is how much does a rebuild cost for the XR50? From what you and others have said maybe just maybe it is a bi-annual cost, but maybe it is not when raced?

For instance the recent change to ceramic rotor seals and the addition of a rev limiter built into the coil have been made for a reason, presumably as a result of failures due to over-revving and in the case of the rotor seals overheating hence the introduction of the Dellorto.

All I am asking and I know I could email info@aim-tec.co.uk , HOW MUCH DOES A REBUILD COST?
