Qualifying straight into heat 1 means:
Go out for qualifying which is normally 10 minutes, set your best time etc, etc. The chequered flag comes out at the end of the session but instead of going straight back to the paddock, go round again where you will be stopped on the circuit just before the start/finish. Then the marshalls will grid you up based on your qualifying performance, then the race begins. What it means basically is that you have to carry enough fuel for qualifying plus the first heat. Hope that explains.
Another thing that you may have to get used to is rolling starts, but this isn't a big deal.
1 week to go.
