I'm new to the GX160 so forgive my ignorance!

I've just completed a head overhaul, and when pulling the engine through to check the valve action I noticed that the exhaust valve appears to open slightly just after the inlet valve closes, i.e. at the start of the compression stroke. Now I know that valve timing is not a simple subject, but this seems rather odd to me. Is it normal, or have I got a very odd camshaft?

Many thanks.
