Seems to me you have to compare "like with like". If you calculate the RPM from the figures quoted using the Formula, RPM = HP*Constant (5252) divided by the Torque you will find that the Engine speeds are different, ie 4029 RPM and 3048 RPM respectively.
To get from pound-feet of torque to horsepower, you need to go through a few conversions. The "Constant" (5,252) is the result of lumping several different conversion factors together into one common number.
