I don't understand your 'jump' in logic from:-
* Power drop helped by choke
to
* Oil in pump....
That looks like a non-sequiter.
The clue seems to be in 'helped by choke'.... that sounds more like a blocked jet of some sort, to me. Have you checked it and does it still do it once you've cleaned out the excess oil??
If you think it's oil in the pump..... why not test it by:-
1) cleaning the pump 2) Running it.... is it now perfect? 3) injecting oil into the pump vent 4) run it again.... is it still perfect?
Always start from the 'easy to test and fix' before moving to the harder to fix.... it saves a lot of time! So..... clean and rebuild the carb.
At worst, swap the carbs and see if the problem transfers WITH the carb.
