And while there is truth in the above statement it does remove one of the key variables to see what time is still to be found with the driver, tyres or set-up.

I wouldn't hesitate to rent. I can't speak for the other builders but I know the RPM do have motors available but how much notice you will need or at what cost I have no idea.
