To my knowledge there has never been a figure quoted for allowable ignition advance in degrees BTDC for engines running to MSA rules.
Current 'Honda technical regulations V12' give the detailed procedure for setting and checking ignition timing which involves using the correct setting gauge with the piston at TDC.
There is apparently a differently shaped coil unit on the latest T2 engines which requires a different setting gauge. (All covered and illustrated in regs V12 downloadable from ABkC site and elsewhere.)
I remember you are involved with NATSKA who may run to different rules.
