My son weighs 35 kg kitted up. I think minimum weight (for Junior TKM) is 38 kg. I spoke to the MSA about a dispensation but they said we might not get it as he has 5 months left until 2018 to gain 3 kg in weight.

Personally, I think the step up is too far for a lot of kids. Going from 6 ish HP Honda to maybe 15 or more JX30/JTKM is quite a change. We're relatively happy in cadets and aren't in a rush to move. It's a shame that something like Junior Subaru is not more widespread. I think they're around 10 hp, long rebuild interval and 2 sets of tyres per year.....seems to make sense.

It's ridiculous that the position on age limits for next year is so vague and hard to pin down.
