What lash setting did you set the rocker to valve gaps to with the feeler gauges?......because the T1 has steel pushoods the gap gets a lot bigger when hot, so it's possible the gap was set too big when cold......I can't remember what a T1 is supposed to be set to but I believe it's around 3 to 4 thou.....whereas the T2 likes much more, but only gains a little more gap as it runs aluminium push rods
