Just fitted my engines and had a look at the positions. You can get them a notch or two further in without any problem with the advantage that you can then run the rear a lot narrower (130mm) which is a must for certain circuits.

Tom, you want your engines as far in as you can get them. A lot will depend on the size of your seat. My left engine used to be so far in the chain cover was over the left-hand bearing carrier.
