I hope this helps.....Despite the weird numbering system used by the american Dept of Transport... DOT5 is superior to Dot 5.1

DOT 5 is purer and due to limited or no moisture it doesnt boil.

Dont mix different fluids & if the brake speciies DOT5.. USE Dot 5 or you may suffer seal failure.

Kelgate are a world famous brake manufacturer and they specify DOT5... its even printed on their master cylinders !!
