Well that covers most of it so I will make some assumptions. ie that you have a printout from an Inertia dyno for a Honda GX style engine. The printout gives a maximum hp. reading, and a mean hp reading . The max reading needs little explanation but the mean and comparisons of the mean are a bit more complex. The mean hp is the average value of hp taken at a number of rev values. Dependent on how many readings are averaged by you or the software there may be a slight variation in the mean value recorded. On the other hand a change in the range of revs used eg 3000 -4000 cf 2000 -6000 will give a massive alteration in the mean value for a given engine and how close to or far from the max value it is. I have a note that RPM take the mean between 3500 and 6000 and this may be standard practice but if you are comparing engines on the basis of mean power figures you need to know over what rev range. The Prokart engine parts site gives an example of a typical? dyno curve for a gx and shows how quickly power figures build up and fall off outside specific revs and how 'stable' the figure is in between. The effect would be much more marked for a different engine type eg. KZ gearbox engine.
