No doubt you can get away with a standard washer or even leave it out altogether and leave the clutch with end float on the shaft, but to do the job properly you need the washer, chamfered in the bore to clear the radius on the crank. That's why Magnum etc. supply the proper part with the clutch. I think Dartford/ Kartstore do a fitting kit which includes the washer.You can then clamp up your clutch against a flat square face rather than leavin it to flap abut on the crank to the detriment of clutch, key and keyway.
