A slight digression but where's the evidence to state that an area which has suffered a nuclear bomb is uninhabitable for 5 to 10,000 years. I've visited Nagasaki and Hiroshima and they're thriving cities. Furthermore, there's little evidence to prove that any more than a handful of people died as a result of the Chernobyl disaster and all of them were involved in the cleanup operation and exposed to massive doses of radiation for years there. End of digression.

The amount of energy required to power a car or a truck is tiny. The challenge is to make a pocket-sized reactor just large enough to generate sustained amounts of energy on this level and to do so safely. I believe it could be done in your lifetime if the political will was there to make it happen.

Like all of these things, politicians will support alternative energy only WHEN THERE'S SOMETHING IN IT FOR THEM. There's no real will to make it happen.

Oh and another thing... I'm being told that burning petrol off is wiping the planet out... so maybe that's even more lethal ;-) Only a joke :-)
