that's a smokescreen and stealth action to levy future taxes on broadband users to pay for a national fibre optic network.

broadband is getting hammered at the moment. BT have put the prices up to us carriers and people are using broadband more and more, despite the credit crunch!

we are about to put our broadband prices up as well as launching ADSL2+ that will be hopelessly outdated to even places like Romania who have FTTH (Fibre To The Home) already!

if it means we get 100mbps symetrical lines or even 1gbps and the tax is fair, happy days!

there are moves (including in the USA) to upgrade our networks so we can compete on the World stage.

you heard it here first!!!
