Just a suggestion, but if you do make the trip anytime you should consider booking in for the V8 Race car drive experience.

For a hundred quid you get to pilot a race spec V8 Holden or Ford around one of the actual tracks they race on . And , there is a one off chance of actually driving the famous Bathurst Mountain circuit at the end of March.
This is not a low speed "joy ride" but a genuine opportunity to scare the crap out of yourself in a car with more performance than most dare use.
Just a suggestion to make the long haul worth while !
