Yet despite all the posturing on an internet forum and taking the moral high ground, you still drive a high performance car. Your energy usage will still be as high as anybody elses. You have still procreated. We can all make token gestures to make ourselves feel better. The fact of the matter is, unless there is a wholesale reduction of resource consumption (or a shift to viable environmentally sound alternatives), everything we do will only ever be a token gesture.

Has anyone calculated by how much worldwide energy consumption must drop just to offset population growth, let alone make any significant inroads into the problem? The only way we will ever achieve a significant reduction in emmissions and energy consumption is through technology. Why waste our time with crackpot schemes and annoying the nation off with "green" taxes when the benefit is negligible and the root of the problem goes on unaltered?
