maybe I misread the original post, but where did David ask how to get off. All he has said is "I messed up, what might I expect as a penalty for my crime"

I agree that really he should have been able to slow down in time as the camera's at these sites are usually placed well into the new limit and therefore give you a fighting chance.

I do believe that it was the case, unsure if it still is, but if you lost your road driving licence you were not allowed to compete in l/c gearbox events. Maybe something liek this should be introduced for karting/motorsport in general - something along the lines of the FIA's "bringing the sport into disrepute"
