When you look at the budget he produced the 415T engine with from 81-85 it wouldnt have kept Ferrari in wine & pasta most likely. Toleman, RAM, Spirit, even Force Lola wouldnt have been able to compete in the turbo era without Brians engines. But then he was killed off by the manufacturers big budgets, similar story at the end of 94 when the V10 was a very good engine. Strange parallels to nowadays with the Cosworth F1 engine thats just left F1. Also Brian Hart was a pretty handy driver in the 60's, making it up to F2 and racing against the likes of Clark, Hill & Rindt - check out the Protos F2 he drove, as I recall it had a balsa wood monocoque.
Sad news indeed.
