Take your point, obviously this is crazy, but the problem is poor regs! Certainly 2 of the 3 main engine builders measure parts, so they would have to quarantine anything outside of limits. If your a DIY builder you'd need to measure parts to ensure legality. Sensible limits can easily be obtained from data recorded as above and other countries regs - take a look at thread from last week where i posted a link to Quater Midget of America. The point is, if engine turns up with a stroke of 45.6mm is it legal?? or 30deg timing advance? or is 45.4 and 28deg ok? my opinion is that all these would be illegal, but its not stated in the ABKC regs.
