and there was me thinking it was to do with the fact the cars are built to Super2000 spec, they all tend to be LHD and built to a very specific set of regs. The RHD cars are built to BTCC spec and are a little less rigid on their regs.
BTCC spec cars like the integras are eligible for points but cannot win the championship to my knowledge.
Also LHD puts the driver on the same side as the gearbox so it counter acts the weight of the engine and equals it out a bit more - the quote about the steering is also correct, we've had super production BTCC spec cars that have had bizarre steering rack conversions to make them LHD.
