Weight is the issue here. I agree with QoT except that I do NOT recommend gearbox (e.g. 125 or 250) as a sensible route IN to karting! They are just TOO violent!
It's rrare to ever find me saying this, but, at your weight, I WOULD go into Rotax. It will NOT be cheap!
The other option is to buy an old UN-raceable ex-100cc National or FA kart. Learn to drive on that VERY cheaply and then decide your 'racing route' after that. The price is SO cheap and the fun is SO HUGE that it will be worth it. Once you can handle that, then gearbox will STILL be a CLIFF to climb but at least you won't be flung out of the thing on every corner. Gearbox is QUICK! In my opinion, TOO quick for beginners!
