As a 'mature' driver, starting myself (TKM), I felt the pick and throw method had all the likelihood of 'doing-in' my back. I fitted an easystart to my sidewinder. It was pretty straightforward - it MUST be really tight or it will slip round. Since I start myself there is never body weight on the wheel, and I think this may be the cause of some people's problems. I only use it for maybe 3 or 4 steps until I have some speed. I just made a loop of the release wire on the top edge of the seat. Drop that and KEEP PUSHING until the engine begins to fire. Do not hop in expecting your momentum to start the engine. Works every time for me.
