a fully charged 12v battery will read 12.6v. 1.1v per cell. fully charge then 'take the top charge off' by connecting to a 12v fan(or similar) for about 30 - 60 seconds - that should be your true v's. Only then should it read 12.6. A flat battery reads 12.39 and lower. Store batteries in a warm place fully charged charge after use a low battery will misfire before it fails to start the kart the new rotax batterys seem to be very good, I wouldnt waste my time with any other (cheaper) battery. trickle charge the night before a race and a good battery will last all day The average 12v battery will last 3.5 years. Hope this helps. Although I have a sealed red top race battery here that is 18 years old.
