Thanks for all of your comments, both for and against. I still feel bad about the situation, but I am convinced I did the right thing.
Someone suggested that I had "threatened" the Scrut. It was not meant to come across that way, just my way of saying "if you are not going to do your job, what's the point of being here?"
I think I am correct in saying that it is the Scruts job to check karts for eligibility, and report any which are not to the Clerk for him to make a decision. Or have I got that wrong? If I am right, then "having a word with him", isn't really in the Scruts remit, is it?
