There are two mechanisms for heat generation:
1) friction at the contact patch with the track 2) flexing within the tyre
There are two mechanims for heat transfer:
3) conduction through the contact patch 4) air over the tyre (forced convection varying with speed)
For a given track/air temp, increasing tyre pressure will increase 1 and reduce 2 and 3.
reducing the pressure will have the opposite effect.
Obviously there are cross-overs and you can achieve similar temps at different pressures (ride/performance will be different tho). Also, remember that the wheel material may affect the time for temperature stabilisation.
