I't's difficult to try and cover all points in messages here. What we have with the template tool is a method of determining flywheel position with the engine at TDC. Therefore, if you have "twisted" the crankshaft, welded and re-cut the keyway etc, the template tool will identify this. The TDC location tool is simply a method of quickly determining TDC to enable spot checks, and should also mean that a lot more scrutineering goes on at club level. Don't get so worked up about this, it's just an attempt to give a more positive definition of where the correct ignition point should be, I would be the first to admit that the current regulations, where you only have photographs to compare against, is a bit "woolly"!
