I injured my ribs badly 2 weeks before the start of my 2009 super 1 season. We tried literally everything, including a heavily modified seat to allow me to race. Of all things, including a ribtec, it was modifying the seat that worked best. Having said that, it was agony the whole year. But as ever with this sport, no one forced me to go racing. It turned out that rest was the only thing that allowed them to heal, and that didn't come till 7 months after the injury. I also doubt that the rib protector would have stopped the injury and can't stand using it now, so I don't. For me, being able to feel what's going on is crucial and the ribtec takes a lot of that away.
