We have raced the X30 all year and think it is a great motor but as you say the electrics let it down
in particular the starter motor.
The starter motor as you say is the same as the Rotax apart from the markings and an additional Ł30 to buy, we have had two starter motors fail in one weekend and I think I have purchased 3 new motors during the season one of which is now on the engine, one is a spare and one is completely gone, this is in addition to the 6 sets of new brushes purchased.
We have raced Rotax for a good many years and I have never had a starter motor fail, come on IAME get your act together and give us a reliable product.
