Itpro's guide certainly covers all bases but a TKM with a well functioning and primed carb is very easy to start, so don't get bogged down in the minutiae. If you're doing it all yourself then a hand throttle is great as nitch says, or if you're a cheapskate like me just tweak the throttle open slightly using the adjuster screw. This will mean it's firing by itself at jogging pace before you even get your foot on the throttle. I've never had to choke a tkm to get it going.
It is daunting but after a few successful attempts you'll realise it's a doddle. Also as nitch says, they start better when cold so don't warm it up too much on the stand.
