When we started out i always used to look at other cadets and then just say well its because they have a better and bigger engine as my lad must be driving the same as them etc, but he wasn't, he needed more time and it took about 2-3 years to really sink in...
Half a karts width difference on the entry or exit line is what makes for a quicker time, but when you are starting it really does look like there engine is Sooo much better than yours!! . All the engines are very close at the top level and it really does come down to the set up and driver on the day,and with the new engine regs + the exhaust the playing field should be even closer.
