Hello. My son has a Project One chassis with a 25 mm rear axle. I think the axle bearings need replacing as they make a slight grinding noise and I can 'wobble' them as if the races are not holding the balls properly any more.
However, the old bearings spin very freely. The new bearings do not spin freely. They aren't faulty, they just seem to have a lot more friction in them. Does anyone know if this is a problem or is it just the grease inside slowing the motion? Should I do anything about it?
Secondly, I was going to lightly drill a wee dimple in the axle for the bearing grub screws to seat in. Is this a stupid idea?
Grateful for any advice, thanks. Dave
